On March 6, 2024, the New York County Lawyers Association will host its Annual Gala at the renowned event space 583 PARK AVENUE, located at 63rd Street and Park Avenue in Manhattan. NYCLA’s Annual Gala, which has been acclaimed as the Bench and Bar Event of the Year, is chaired by Robert L. Haig, Partner, Kelley Drye & Warren LLP.

At its 2024 Annual Gala, NYCLA will honor all of the Judges of the State and Federal Appellate Courts in New York State for their many contributions to the law and our community.  In addition, NYCLA will present its highest honor, the 2024 William Nelson Cromwell Award, to Hon. Rolando T. Acosta, Partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and former Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department (2017 – 2023).   This Award was established in 1964 and is conferred in honor of William Nelson Cromwell, one of NYCLA’s earliest and most esteemed leaders, for unselfish service to the profession and the community.  Justice Acosta personifies this dedication to public service.  During his tenure as Presiding Justice, the Court underwent a swift and strategic modernization, achieving improved efficiency and affording the public greater access to justice.  Justice Acosta has also made extraordinary efforts in defense of a strong and independent judiciary and the rule of law.  His contributions to the courts span from 1997, when Justice Acosta began his judicial career in the Civil Court in New York County.

“Justice Acosta exemplifies commitment to public service in the spirit of William Nelson Cromwell and we can think of no one more deserving of this recognition than Honorable Rolando T. Acosta” said NYCLA’s President, Adrienne B. Koch.
