The NYCLA Library subscribes to a variety of legal and business databases, including Westlaw, a commercial full-text legal and business information service incorporating approximately 10,000 databases. Our subscription package includes many prominent treatises of value to your practice. Each of these online services provides access to a wide spectrum of information and are available to our Members while in our Library as a benefit of Membership

 

Access to the NYCLA Library

The New York County Lawyers Association’s Library is open for All Members daily from 9:15 am – 4:45 pm at no cost. Simply give us a call at 212.267.6646 or email our library coordinator Irina Chopinova at chopinova@nycla.org before you come by so that we can confirm that there will be space for you when you get here and let our building security team know you are coming. 

Governance
House and Library Rules


These Rules were approved by the Board of Directors of the New York County Lawyers Association at its regular meeting on September 10, 2007. The New York County Lawyers Association is organized and shall be operated as a bar association exclusively for charitable and educational purposes with the primary object of promoting the public interest.

All Members and others shall comply with all By-Laws and Rules of the Association while visiting NYCLA Headquarters.

No member or other person while at the Association Headquarters shall engage in conduct that disrupts, disturbs or in any way interferes with the Association’s normal operations and service, with the Association staff’s performance of their duties, or with the use and enjoyment of the Association by other members or patrons. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, no one shall:

  • Engage in any noisy or boisterous activity.

  • Play or set electronic and/or audio equipment at a volume that others can hear.

  • Behave in any other manner that can reasonably be expected to disturb others.

  • Use cell phones in a manner that disturbs others.

  • Mutilate, deface, soil or destroy or use for any improper or illegal purpose any library or Association property.  Property includes furniture, books, publications, briefs, newspapers, DVDs, audio cassettes, or other items in the library collection, and walls, machines, computer terminals and equipment and internet services and other library and Association property.

  • Have personal hygiene that is objectionable to other members or staff such as strongly offensive body odor and/or the presence of bodily wastes on clothing or skin.

  • No one shall use any part of NYCLA Headquarters as an office or place of business.

  • Appropriate dress (including shoes) must be worn at all times.

  • No member or other person while visiting NYCLA shall interfere with the proper discharge of duties by employees of the Association.

  • A member or patron who is not complying with any of these rules may be asked to leave the Association premises.

This policy is determined by the New York County Lawyers Association Board of Directors and is subject to periodic review and/or revision at the discretion of the Board.
