Question. Is it professionally proper for an attorney to represent a client in the enforcement of judgments when that client is in the business of purchasing said judgments at substantial discounts?
Answer. On the facts as stated, it is not, in the opinion of this Committee, professionally improper for an attorney to accept such a retainer, provided his acts in connection with the matter are not violative, directly or indirectly, of the letter or the spirit of Canon 28 of the Canons of Ethics of the American Bar Association, and provided that such representation of the client is not a cloak for such violations. In this connection, attention is directed to practices condemned by this Committee as violating Canon 28 in its responses to Questions 91, 160, and 227.
