Law and Technology:
The Future is Now
The rapid rise of technology has raised a host of legal and ethical issues that are distinctive to the 21st Century. In this book, we aim to provide an overview of how emerging technologies fit within the existing legal frameworks, and how the frameworks will change to adopt the benefits, but restrain the rogueries, presented by the technologies. The new technologies impact diverse legal and entrepreneurial issues: data privacy, information and network security, intellectual property, data ownership, monetization of data, product liability and contracts, and many others. An innovative breed of attorneys is required for handling the issues impacted by the new technologies, while the technologies must be a primary focus of the next generation of attorneys. Attorneys must address their new professional responsibilities, and support and promote ethical principles. By doing so, they can positively impact the use of the technologies and the legal response to the use of the technologies.
