NY CLE Board Issues Update to Program Restrictions Applicable to SKILLS CLE Credits for Newly Admitted Attorneys
On April 30, 2025, the New York State CLE Board has implemented the following changes for newly admitted attorneys:
-
The temporary pandemic-related changes to the CLE program format restrictions applicable to Skills CLE credits for newly admitted attorneys will not be extended, and therefore, will expire on June 30, 2025.
-
To assist in the transition back to the pre-pandemic requirement, CLE providers may continue to offer, and newly admitted attorneys may continue to earn Skills CLE credit, through formats with live simultaneous transmission with synchronous interactivity (webconference, teleconference and videoconference, through group or individual participation, where questions are allowed during the program) through December 31, 2025.
-
After December 31, 2025, newly admitted attorneys must complete Skills CLE credits in either the traditional live classroom setting or by fully interactive videoconference group participation only (where participants are physically together in group settings).
