The New York County Lawyers Association President Adrienne B. Koch to Speak on Gubernatorial Succession Panel at Fordham Law School Event

On November 1^st Fordham Law School is hosting an event of legal thought leaders called Improving Lieutenant Governor Replacement and Succession Procedures. Adrienne B. Koch, NYCLA President, will be participating on a panel which will be moderated by John Rogan, Senior Fellow at Fordham Law School. Other speakers include Matthew Diller (Dean and Paul Fuller Professor of Law, Fordham University), John D. Feerick (Dean Emeritus and Sidney C. Norris Professor of Law at Fordham Law School, Past President of the New York City Bar Association, and a framer of the U.S. Constitution’s 25th Amendment), and former Governor David A. Patterson. NYCLA published a Board Report on April 27^th, 2022, calling for the establishment of a “blue ribbon” task force to study the current process, suggesting that it include respected leaders from bar associations around the state as well as academics and stakeholders, and that it study, investigate and make appropriate recommendations which would provide a clear, reliable, and transparent procedure and process for Lieutenant Gubernatorial succession. In January 2023, the New York State Bar Association released a report and recommendations resulting from just such a study.  That report and its recommendations will be part of the focus of the panel’s discussion.
