NYCLA’s Response to Memorial Day Truth Social Post Attacking the Administration of Justice

NYCLA’s officers are appalled at the continued attacks on the rule of law and the nation’s judiciary.  President Trump’s Memorial Day post on Truth Social in all caps said:  HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY THROUGH WARPED RADICAL LEFT MINDS.”  He went on to blame “JUDGES WHO ARE ON A MISSION TO KEEP MURDERERS, DRUG DEALERS, RAPISTS AND GANG MEMBERS, AND RELEASED PRISONERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN OUR COUNTRY, SO THEY CAN ROB, MURDERERS (sic), AND RAPE AGAIN, PROTECTED BY THESE USA HATING JUDGES WHO SUFFER FROM AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS SICK.”  He calls on the Supreme Court “AND OTHER GOOD AND COMPASSIONATE JUDGES” to “SAVE US FROM THE DECISIONS OF THE MONSTERS WHO WANT OUR COUNTRY TO GO TO HELL.”

This post is a thinly veiled threat that once again attacks judges doing their Constitutionally protected work. Given the existing climate, it also risks potential violence. Issuing such a statement on Memorial Day, which is a holiday designed to honor those who died in times of actual war in defense of our country’s liberty and freedom, is itself wholly inconsistent with those values.
