NYCLA TO HOST JUDICIAL RECEPTION ON MARCH 6

 

February 28, 2008 – New York, NY – On Thursday, March 6, the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s (NYCLA) Supreme Court Committee is hosting a judicial reception recognizing Newly Elected, Appointed, Re-Elected and Re-Appointed Judges of the New York State Court of Appeals and the First Judicial District at the NYCLA Home of Law, 14 Vesey Street, from 6:00-7:30 PM. There will be a special presentation to Hon. Ann T. Pfau, Chief Administrative Judge of All New York State Courts. Among the other honorees are: Hon. Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick, Associate Judge, Court of Appeals; Hon. Theodore T. Jones Jr., Associate Judge, Court of Appeals; Hon. Jonathan Lippman, Presiding Justice, Appellate Division, First Department; Hon. Rolando T. Acosta, Associate Justice, Appellate Division, First Department; and Hon. Karla Moskowitz, Associate Justice, Appellate Division, First Department.

 

This is among the myriad NYCLA events taking place during NYCLA’s Centennial year celebration, which commenced in April 2007 and ends in December 2008. NYCLA (www.nycla.org) was founded in April 1908 as the first major bar association in the country that admitted members without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual identity. Since its inception, it has pioneered some of the most far-reaching and tangible reforms in American jurisprudence and has continuously played an active role in legal developments and public policy.
