On Law Day 2026, the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) highlights this year’s theme, “The Rule of Law and the American Dream,” through a featured commentary in the New York Law Journal by NYCLA President Richard P. Swanson and President-Elect Ronald C. Minkoff.
The commentary reflects on the relationship between the rule of law, opportunity, education, and the American Dream, with reference to immigration and the legal framework that governs it.
It also highlights the importance of continued dialogue and engagement within the legal community on issues that shape public understanding of the law.
Law Day is an opportunity to recognize the role of the rule of law in supporting a fair and functioning legal system.
