April 7th, 2025 – the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) hosted a summit to bring lawyers and law firms into the effort to galvanize the entire spectrum of the legal community – from individual lawyers to large legal organizations – to work together to protect the rule of law.

Following their recent Rule of Law Summit on April 2, which was targeted to legal organizations and bar associations, this meeting delivered an update to individual lawyers and law firms who are interested in joining these efforts. Adrienne B. Koch, NYCLA President, delivered an overview of the activities and resources being planned and described ways in which individual lawyers and law firms can participate.

“The legal community is most effective when we speak with one voice. Attacks on any part of our justice system, law firms, lawyers and rule of law is an attack on every aspect of our democracy. We all took an oath to the United States Constitution to uphold rule the law, and we intend to honor it,” said Koch.

Among the activities discussed during this summit was a Law Day Rally, which will be announced shortly. Other collaborative efforts including position statements on recent attacks on law firms can be found here.
