The New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) Annual Honorable Richard Lee Price New York City High School Essay Contest Awards Ceremony will take place on June 3 at 5:00 PM at the NYCLA Home of Law.
Established 30 years ago by NYCLA’s Law Related Education Committee, the contest was renamed in 2024 in honor of the late Honorable Richard Lee Price, whose dedication to civic education and mentorship left a lasting impact on generations of students. His legacy endures through this program, which embodies NYCLA’s core value of civic education.
Each year, the contest recognizes ten outstanding New York City high school students who submit essays responding to a hypothetical legal question. Essays are evaluated on originality, writing style, grammar, and adherence to formatting guidelines.
This program reflects NYCLA’s longstanding commitment to civic education and youth engagement. We invite you to support the continuation and growth of these efforts by making a donation here.
Participants submit essays responding to a hypothetical question posed by the contest. A panel of committee members evaluates the essays, selecting winners based on originality, writing style, grammar, and adherence to formatting guidelines. Prizes are awarded as follows: $750 for first place, $500 for second place, $400 for third place, $300 for fourth place, and $150 for each of fifth through tenth places.
