NUMBER 261 1928

Question. In the opinion of the Committee, may a lawyer, with professional propriety, enter into an agreement for professional employment by a group of individual property owners to represent them, respectively, as defendants in actions, whether pending or which may be brought to recover damages, for personal injuries claimed by tenants and others to have been sustained by them, the compensation to be a fixed, annual uniform retainer for each piece of property, to be paid to him by the respective owners?

 

Answer. In the opinion of the Committee, there is no impropriety in the arrangement set forth in the question provided such arrangement be not coupled with improper solicitation.
