The Civil Rights Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association wishes to convey its support of the proposed Second Chance Act of 2007, S. 1060. We agree that this legislation can lead to a decrease in recidivism by providing services to ex-offenders and their families. This will not only redound to the benefit of the persons who receive the services, but to the surrounding communities in which they reside and raise their children. We hope that your colleagues in the Senate will agree with your colleagues in the House of Representatives and enact this legislation.
