FDR and the Courts: The Ambiguous Legal Legacy of Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Start 11/17/2025 - 5:30 PM
End 11/17/2025 - 6:45 PM

COURSE DETAILS

Serving 12 years in office as President, FDR is widely recognized for leadership during the Great Depression and World War II. Yet his time in office also led to the passage of the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, limiting the president to two terms in office.

He also established the United States as a preeminent world power, but lost a confrontation with Chief Judge Charles Evans Hughes when he attempted to “pack” the Supreme Court.

Both beloved and despised, Roosevelt leaves a legacy that deserves further examination today.
