Since its inception, NYCLA has been at the forefront of most legal debates in the country. We have provided legal education for more than 40 years.
Hear about the life and impact of Abraham Lincoln and how he became a force of mythical proportions. While he played the part of a humble country lawyer, he was a brilliant, self-taught man and the consummate statesman.
Indeed, it was his grounding in the law that enabled Lincoln, as President, to meet the daunting constitutional crisis arising from the Civil War.
Yet, as effective a lawyer as he was, it was his role as President that reaffirmed the true meaning of the Constitution. His legacy survived after his assassination. With the Union’s military victory and the Reconstruction Amendments ratified after his passing, the rule of law was resurrected.
Join us to hear the story, understand the lessons, and discover his impact upon future presidents.
