Join us for a fascinating program about the life and causes of John Lennon — activist, musician, and hero to many — who was murdered outside his home at the Dakota in NYC on the evening of December 8, 1980.
Throughout his life, he championed many political causes and was engaged in multiple legal disputes, including those involving financial mismanagement, ultimately culminating in his legal battle to remain a resident of the United States.
His immigration saga began with deportation proceedings based on a 1968 drug conviction in England. After a four-year legal battle, and through the ingenuity of his legal team, on October 7, 1975, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled in his favor, declaring, “The courts will not condone selective deportation based upon secret political grounds.” Less than a year later, he received his green card.
This is a fascinating program you will not want to miss.
