A Government of Law and Not Men: John Adams and the Foundations of American Law

Start 09/15/2025 - 5:30 PM
End 09/15/2025 - 6:45 PM

COURSE DETAILS

Hear the remarkable story of John Adams — attorney, signer of the Declaration of Independence, foreign diplomat, first vice president, second president, and father of the sixth president.

He was a pivotal leader during the Revolution, a lawyer who affirmed the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, the right to counsel, and championed an independent judiciary. He sired a political dynasty and had a wife who was an early advocate of women’s rights.

While often outshone by his contemporaries, his many contributions to the United States indeed deserve to be recognized. He also started a political dynasty when his son followed him into politics and eventually achieved the presidency as well.
