Since its inception, NYCLA has been at the forefront of most legal debates in the country. We have provided legal education for more than 40 years.
NYCLA’s officers are saddened to learn of the death of the Hon. Jerry Garguilo. Justice Garguilo was a long-serving Justice of the New York Supreme Court, holding several important administrative roles, including service on the Appellate Term, as a coordinating judge for asbestos cases, and, more recently, as statewide coordination judge for opioid cases, where he guided that massive set of litigations to a successful conclusion. He was always well prepared and effective at moving his docket, and his success in coordinating multiple complicated mass tort cases demonstrated his skill in administering and trying complex cases effectively. He will be missed.
