Stephen Mc Quade is a Labor Relations Trial Examiner with the New York City Office of Collective Bargaining, which is the neutral, tripartite agency responsible for administrating the New York City Collective Bargaining Law, and has been with this office since 2004. 

Also beginning in 2004 and still continuing into the present, Mr. Mc Quade has his own private general practice law firm primarily representing clients with issues in the area of labor and employment law.  Typically on the side of non-governmental employee(s), he handles matters dealing with federal, state, and city overtime, minimum wage, and overtime laws, as well as employment discrimination matters arising out of race, gender, age or disability.  Additionally, Mr. Mc Quade has clients in such varied areas of representation, including criminal defense, trusts and estates, landlord/tenant disputes, and professional athlete representation.

Prior to 2004, Mr. Mc Quade worked as an associate at two labor-side law firms, which represented various private and public sector unions, both in New York and New Jersey, including Police Officers, Firefighters, Carpenters, Teamsters, Operating Engineers, Commercial Food Workers, Pavers and Tile Layers, and Roofers, as well as their benefit funds.

Mr. Mc Quade is admitted in States of New York and New Jersey, the United States District Courts, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey and has practiced before New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission and the National Labor Relations Board.    

Mr. Mc Quade graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School.  He has been a member of NYCLA since 2003, involved in with the Labor and Employment Committee since 2004, and acts as a Mentor in the area of employment law for NYCLA’s Legal Counseling Project.
