Our expert panel, featuring William Heller, General Counsel, New York Giants, will tackle important sports related legal issues.

Sports in the United States is a $400 billion business.Sports lawyers need to give their clients advice on an eclectic number of unrelated legal issues.Can athlete speech be regulated?How can a team protect itself from third party claims?What are the risks in use of social media?How are joint ventures and strategic partnerships structured. 

Our expert panel will address the following issues:

Protecting the Brand: Contracts with players; damage control; use of social media; employment issues; trademarks; drug policies; ethical considerations

Strategic Alliances:Joint ventures; partnering with advertisers; partnering with networks; corporate sponsorships; promoting teams and events; Ozzie and Daniel Silna $300M NBA deal; ethical considerations

Enforcement Actions: False and misleading marketing, including advertisements and endorsements with respect to the use, functionality and capabilities of sporting implements (equipment, and performance recovery and enhancement supplements; whether ICANN's new top level domains present bigger marketing opportunities or a trademark enforcement nightmare
