About Jeffrey Toobin
: A high-profile senior analyst for CNN and staff writer for The New Yorker, Jeffrey Toobin is one of the country’s most esteemed experts on politics, media and the law. On television, in the magazine, and in his eight best-selling books, Toobin has provided analysis on some of the most provocative and important events of our time. He has covered all the most controversial stories of the past several decades, starting with the O.J. Simpson trial, which was the basis for his book, The Run of His Life, which FX adapted for a smash hit miniseries in 2016. His book on the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment of Bill Clinton, A Vast Conspiracy, will also be adapted into a miniseries by FX. Toobin delved into the historical, political and personal inner workings of the Supreme Court and its justices in his book The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court. The Nine spent more than four months on the New York Times Best Seller list. The Oath, his sequel to The Nine, was also a best-seller.

Toobin received his bachelor's degree from Harvard College and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. After completing law school, Toobin worked as an associate counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel Lawrence E. Walsh, an experience that provided the basis for his first book, Opening Arguments: A Young Lawyer's First Case: United States v. Oliver North.

After becoming an Assistant United States Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, he took up his post as a staff writer for The New Yorker. In 1996, he began covering the country’s highest-profile cases for ABC News, earning an Emmy award for his coverage of the Elián González custody saga in 2000. Toobin joined CNN as a legal analyst in 2002 and currently serves as senior analyst for the network.
