The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 created significant gain exclusion and gain deferral tax benefits for investing in opportunity zones.
Significant portions of New York City and surrounding areas are designated opportunity zones. Massive amounts of capital are moving into these areas to develop and redevelop opportunity zone properties.
Our panelists will provide a 360-degree view of the tax treatment of opportunity zone investments. The discussion will cover the tax benefits of investing in opportunity zones and the required structures for such investments. They will address issues that face owners of property in opportunity zones who are seeking investment funds to develop their properties.
As the maximum benefits are set to expire for investments made after 2019, this is a timely and important pane.
