The Restorative Center’s mission is to develop a community-centered model of restorative justice that creates the structure and space for communities to discover and activate their ability to work together toward their own well-being. This model is called The Newburgh Model. RJCP is a pilot program offering a unique opportunity for those impacted by the criminal justice system, picking up where the criminal justice system left off to facilitate a highly structured and well-supported exploration of a conflict during or after a time of incarceration. By using the Community Circle process, incarcerated people and affected community members can work together to repair the rift created by the initial conflict that was then amplified by the criminal justice system.

The trainings provide an experienced-based understanding of the foundational components of The Newburgh Model of Community Circles, lectures on the potential of restorative Justice practices in communities impacted by the criminal justice system and an innovative approach to utilizing Community Circles to address diversity and inclusion in various settings.

The training workshops are engaging, lively and informative. Attorneys learn an alternative dispute model and emergent potential for criminal justice reform.
