The stress of an attorney’s professional life can take a toll on one’s ability to consistently perform at his/her best in the most difficult of situations. However, by using improved decision-making and judgment skills, a lawyer can challenge the thinking that gets activated under stress, and work to achieve a better, more productive mind.
ln recent years, national attention has been focused on the challenges to attorney well-being. Mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, plaque the lawyer population at a much higher rate than the general population. Fortunately, there is a sustained movement to identify these struggles and suggest ways to address these issues.
This informative session will focus on the ethical implications associated with lawyer well-being and impairment due to mental health conditions.
This class also explores effective mindfulness practices for navigating the emotional challenges lawyers face, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy practices and other data backed approaches. This class will teach you to operate at peak performance, in less time.
We will cover the following topics:
- What is mindfulness?
- Understanding time management and productivity for the legal profession
- How does mindfulness increase attorney productivity?
- 7 Ways for lawyers to Use Mindfulness to Get More Done
- Ethical implications associated with lawyer well-being and impairment due to mental health conditions.
Using guided mindfulness exercises and other techniques, you will learn how to control stress and in turn improve productivity, creativity and the ability to uphold your ethical responsibilities as an attorney.
