Ephraim K. Leibowitz is the newly appointed Chair of the Senior Lawyers’ Committee. He has been retired for about 10 years and wants to revitalize the Committee, which has been relatively inactive.

The Committee will invite speakers with expertise in finance, estate planning, medical insurance, financing nursing and home care, etc.

For those attorneys who are already retired, the Committee will have its members share the many ways of continuing a vital, rewarding and stimulating life after spending decades dealing with clients, billable hours, trials, building and maintaining a lucrative law practice and the like.

For attorneys who are considering what retirement may hold for them and how to prepare for it, the retired members will be happy to share their knowledge and experience.

Mr. Leibowitz had been a bankruptcy attorney for about forty years, author of the

Bankruptcy Practice column for the New York Law Journal and a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy for the Practising Law Institute, New York County Lawyers’ Association and other organizations. He had been a partner at Leibowitz, Platzer and Fineberg, of counsel to Guggenheim and Untermeyer and a partner and then of counsel with the firm of Epstein, Becker and Green.

Formerly, he had been Chair of the Bankruptcy Committee and served on NYCLA’s Board of Directors He presently enjoys attending the discussions of books at the Committee on Law and Literature at NYCLA.
