Joana Lucashuk is co-chair of NYLCA’s Women’s Rights Committee, past secretary of the Committee, and a senior attorney in the Office of General Counsel at the New York State Department of Financial Services. As a senior attorney, Ms. Lucashuk analyzes and monitors proposed state and federal legislation, assists with the development of the Department’s legislative agenda, and drafts legislation to further that agenda. In addition, Ms. Lucashuk coordinates the Department’s NAIC accreditation efforts, and drafts, reviews, and edits insurance regulations and circular letters.

Prior to joining the Department of Financial Services, Ms. Lucashuk served as a legal intern in the domestic violence unit of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, as an intern at The Legal Project, a non-profit organization that offers legal services to domestic violence victims, and as a public policy intern at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, where she worked on projects pertaining to women’s health. In addition to being a NYCLA member, Ms. Lucashuk is a member of the Women’s City Club of New York and the NYC Bar Association.

Ms. Lucashuk earned her law degree from New York Law School and a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
