Annual New York City High School Essay Contest Awards Ceremony

Time: 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Room: 2nd Floor Lounge

This competition, created by the Law Related Education Committee, is in its 20th year. Ten high school students will receive honors. In total, the Committee received over 150 entries for this year’s essay topic: You work for the government. You are required to keep what you learn secret. You learn of something that you believe violates the law. What should you do and why? What legal support do you have your position?

Karline Jung of the Bronx High School of Science, was the 1st place prize winner and will receive $1,000.00. The 2nd place prize of $750.00 will go to Max Neuman of Bard High School Early College Manhattan. The 3rd place prize of $500.00 will go to Lynette Lewis of James Madison High School, and the 4th place prize of $300.00 will go to Kyle Gulino also of James Madison High School.
